This week we Galavante to Caliente Cartagena, which is no better way to describe this sultry Latin city on the Caribbean. Cartagena is where the so well-traveled and adventurous congregate, often bringing their own crew to party here for the weekend. A lazy beach vacation this is not; while you can spend all day laying out by the Santa Clara’s pool, you will almost certainly venture into this vibrant, historical city to soak in the culture and sites.

I love traveling to places that are off the beaten path, yet have the creature comforts of lux hotels, great restaurants and nightlife. I know that when many hear Colombia as a destination, there’s a preconceived notion of dangerous streets, drug trade and kidnappings. The first time I went to Colombia six years ago, that was my impression as well. I was terrified to travel to Colombia, but curiosity and my friend’s wedding won out. What I found was a country so purely stunning, with people living every day of working, eating at great restaurants and enjoying a very distinguished, wild nightlife.
I would like to thank my travel partner in crime, Keiko, with whom I experienced the best Cartagena has to offer. We ate so many times at Cevicheria, which is hands down the best ceviche I will ever have. I still crave the lobster ceviche and shrimp and mango ceviche, served along side plantain chips and coconut rice. I couldn’t think of a better travel partner; thank you Keiko so much for sharing this experience. I hope you are able to experience this extraordinary destination.
