Overview
Philippe Starck has done it again with one of his most recent hotel enterprises. Unlike his scene-y in-the-center-of-it projects, this one is on an off-the-grid three-mile stretch of Mediterranean white-sand beach. That’s as off-the-grid as you can get if the location is St. Tropez. The Lily of the Valley is a world away, hidden in the magnificent rolling hills of Cap Lardier. Here’s the hotel to put on your list when you’re in St. Tropez but want to experience the tranquil countryside.
Hotel and Beach Club
The Lily of the Valley is tucked away in an untouched landscape that functions as the green lungs of the French Riviera. From up in these hills you look down onto Plage de Gigaro — a stretch of beach along the Mediterranean. Here, at Plage de Gigaro, Lily of the Valley has its own private Beach Club. Because if you’re spending the day tanning and swimming here, you gotta eat at some point. The Beach Club brings you two chic options right along the shore.
Room and Board
The Lily of the Valley consists of multiple buildings that offer lovely rooms, all surrounded by nature. There are also eight suites which have their own private pools and gardens, for when you want not just a stay, but a getaway.
On the terrace is Vista, a restaurant by hyper-talented chef Vincent Maillard. He creates primarily dishes featuring Mediterranean cuisine and culture. Club House, where comfortable floral sofas enliven the decor, serves more casual meals all day. It’s a great place to drop in for a morning smoothie or sit for an afternoon tea. In addition, down at the Beach Club you have two further dining options worth considering: Brigante and Pépé both serve up lavish meals, and you can’t beat the sea views.
Health and Wellness
But aside from the amazing views, what the Lily of the Valley is really about is luxury and wellness. At a weight-loss program called the Shape Club, nutritionist Jacques Fricker has synthesized core elements of wellness. The focus is on fitness excursions, nutritional menus, and whatever personal advisors whisper discreetly in your ear. It’s a helluva peaceful retreat for rejuvenating yourself. This isn’t a hardcore medical spa though; the staff will happily bring you a glass of rosé post workout. After all, you are in the south of France. Enjoy!
