Why: The Chocolate Room. We could just leave it at that, but then we wouldn’t do justice to some of the largest villas in the Maldives, each equipped with their own waterslide. Bathrooms are outdoors and living space is maximized, with comfortable day beds and plunge pools that go directly into the Indian Ocean. Soneva’s philosophy is “barefoot luxury” – literally. They take your shoes the moment you arrive, and you spend your vacation wandering the entirety of the resort and biking through the pathways barefoot.
